Experience points, otherwise known as XP, are earned by playing IGGalaxy tournaments. The better your performance in a tournament, the more XP you will earn, and the more opportunities arise for you within the IGGalaxy platform!
Players earn 50 XP for each tournament round they participate in, win or lose. The bigger your tournament, the more rounds you can play, and the bigger your XP rewards.
Bonus XP is also awarded to players who make it to the finals or play-offs:
Position 1 > 100 XP bonus || Position 2 > 75 XP bonus || Position 3 > 50 XP bonus || Position 4 > 25 XP bonus
If you are disqualified from a tournament, including auto-disqualification for failing to ready up on time OR from failing to submit you score at the end of a round, you will not receive your XP rewards. However, if you forfeit from a tournament, you will receive XP rewards relative to the last round that you participated in.
Your Game Level reflects that amount of XP you have earned by playing in tournaments for a specific game title. The more XP you have earned for a game, the higher your Game Level; the higher your level, the greater your eligibility to join elite tournaments with higher prize pools!
How does my game level affect my eligibility?
We appreciate that new gamers need forums to play with gamers of their own skill level; being knocked out by a pro gamers in the first round of a tournament sucks! Similarly, we appreciate that elite gamers want to compete against people with a similar gaming calibre. As a result, IGGalaxy tournaments are often created for ranges of Game Levels (e.g. Levels 0-3, or Levels 10-15) to facilitate skill-based matchmaking in tournament brackets.
Tournaments that are scheduled for elite gamers will usually feature a larger prize pool and/or a wider breadth of crypto rewards… Please keep a look out!
Yes! At higher levels, you'll start your tournament with a negative XP weighting. This means that you'll have to work even harder to break even, at the end of the tournament (and, therefore, work harder to climb to the top of the leaderboard). As a result, if players do not end a tournament with a positive amount of XP, their total game XP may decrease, and they may drop a game level...
The following table shows XP requirements, per game level. The same mechanics apply for all game titles.
Yes, players’ Game Levels are subject to a seasonal reset. When this occurs, all players will see their game XP total reduced by given percentage that is calculated, ahead of time.
Resets are designed to ensure a fair distribution of game levels across the wider platform and to keep high-performing players on their toes, while giving up-and-coming players a fighting change to overtake other players on leaderboards.
The total amount of XP you earn across all tournaments, regardless of the game you play, determines your Platform Rank. The more you engage with IGGalaxy, the more XP you will earn, and the higher your Platform Rank!
There are six major ranks within IGGalaxy, each with five minor ranks (I to V). A total amount of XP is needed to achieve each minor rank, in order to ascend to a new major rank.
The higher your Platform Rank, the greater your eligibility to be entered into invite-only tournaments, with elite rewards, and prize draws outside of the platform. We also aim to introduce more mechanics to reward users who climb to higher platform ranks and consistently engage with the platform. Watch this space!
The following table shows XP requirements, per Platform Rank. To find how much XP you need to earn, to achieve a minor platform rank (within a major rank), check out your in-app user overview!
You are eligible to be demoted if you do not meet a minimum amount of XP, each month! Our Platform Rank mechanisms intend to reward people for their sustained engagement and, if gamers engage less regularly with IGGalaxy, their Rank will reflect as much.
You will drop three minor ranks, at the end of the month, if you do not meet your minimum: this amount you need to earn depends on your major rank. Your monthly XP goal is always less than the XP required to ascend a minor rank, meaning that: if you climb one minor rank, per month, you have already met your monthly minimum!
The following table shows the amount of XP you are required to earn, per month, to maintain your Platform Rank:
We do not anticipate applying seasonal resets to user ranks, given the fact that users must defend their rank on a monthly basis. However, as we continually build more nuanced XP mechanisms, we will continue to assess our XP and Platform Rank mechanics, and may choose to alter XP totals per rank, as opportunities to earn XP become more widespread.
Your XP total, for a given game, decides where place on our Leadboards. Leaderboards can be filtered for your country (as set in your User Settings), the region that corresponds to your country, OR viewed relative to our global community. Therefore, though you may be top of your country, what about your region? And, where do you stand among the galaxy..?
Our leaderboards are refreshed on the hour, every hour. Therefore, your new place on a board, after completing a tournament, may take up to 60 mins to update.
Your regional leaderboard is pulled from the country that you have set, in your User Settings. Though we appreciate some countries could apply to multiple regions (especially if they are on the border of two regions), we have have assigned each country to a single region, based on an internationally recognised list of countries and regions. This is to reduce user complexity of appearing on multiple regional leaderboards, for their country.
Our in-app dropdown menu allows you to switch between
i) Leaderboards you are on,
ii) Leaderboards you are interested in (based on your interests, in your User Settings) and
iii) All leaderboards.Want to see which leaderboards your friend is on?
