News > Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 new building material
Fortnite’s Chapter 2 Season 1 has been the longest season in Fortnite history, but we are now just under a week away from Fortnite Season 2!
Last Friday, we released an article detailing some game-breaking bugs Fortnite players found following Epic Games’ 11.50 patch update.
As Epic Games teased the Fortnite community with “big changes” for the new season ahead, it seems that one of these changes could point towards new building material. Fortnite data miners have uncovered a number of files that suggest new building material could be released with Season 2 on 20 February.
Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 goes live on Thursday 20 February!
Since the popular battle royale’s launch in 2017, Fortnite’s building materials have included wood, brick, and metal. Wood is the weakest, and a material in abundance as there are trees and fences almost everywhere on the Fortnite island. Brick, which is much stronger than wood, can be obtained by breaking stones and walls. And then finally, there is metal, which comes from vehicles.
In terms of using materials to build, despite being the strongest material, a metal wall will take over 22 seconds to build, in contrast to a wooden wall that takes less than four seconds — and due to the nature of competitive Fortnite, every second counts.
Fortnite data miners Lucas7yoshi found a “gold prop” in the game, which appears to look like a book. Some theorise that Epic Games have implemented this prop to implement gold building material once Season 2 goes live.
It is likely that the gold objects found in the game data would require players to harvest these objects with a pickaxe, and naturally, we expect it to replace metal as the strongest material. It is also very likely that there will be a limited supply of these gold objects.
Epic has undoubtedly caused a stir amongst the Fortnite community as players take to social media to speculate on what’s actually in store for the new season. Considering we are exactly six days away from Fortnite’s Chapter 2 Season 2, we are sure many more leaks will begin to surface.
