News > Gareth Bale enters esports industry with FIFA team
Real Madrid and Welsh international, Gareth Bale, has launched his own esports organisation, Ellevens Esports, in partnership with 38 Entertainment Group. Bale joins a host of footballers, and sporting stars more generally, branching out to esports.
Ellevens Esports have already signed a popular FIFA content creator, a competitive FIFA roster that will compete in this weekend’s FIFA eClub World Cup. Outside of the sports simulation game, Ellevens Esports are also keen to enter Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO), Fortnite and Rocket League in the coming months.

Discussing his latest move into esports, Bale commented:
“On the pitch, my goal is always to win. With Ellevens Esports, that winning attitude is just as important. There are similarities between football and esports in that it takes real dedication and sacrifice to reach the top of your game. I am looking to recruit a team of world-class players for Ellevens across a variety of games. Unearthing new talent is an exciting part of the process and it’s been really exciting to be involved in selecting our line-up of players so far!”
Over the coming months, the Bale’s Ellevens Esports will be carrying out an esports scouting talent search to sign some of the best talent the industry has to offer.
Back in January, Bale’s La Liga rival Antione Griezmann also entered esports, establishing Grizi Esports. Like Bale’s Ellevens Esports, Griezmann is looking at recruiting a variety of esports rosters that will compete in the likes of CS:GO, FIFA and Fortnite, but also popular titles like League of Legends and Rainbow Six Siege. It is clear that these stars are recognising that their established presence in sports gives them a strong foothold in this nascent, yet dynamic industry.
